If you’ve ever been to the spa or enjoyed a sauna, you’ve already taken advantage of the enormous benefits of steam for your skin. Have you ever wondered why your skin never feels quite as clean as it does right after a facial? Do you want to make sure you’re getting the most out of your skin care products?
Then a tea-infused facial steam might be exactly what you’re needing! Being able to use a facial steam tea at home can get you those spa facial results without the cost!
First, let’s start out with the most important question:
To put it simply, a facial steam tea is a blend of tea leaves and natural ingredients that you can immerse in boiling water to then use as a facial steam!
Steaming one’s face or body as a whole to open and detoxify pores has been used for centuries as a natural cleansing ritual and is of course used in almost every facial treatment available. And while regular steam can open your pores and get part of the job done, using a nourishing, detoxifying tea steam is even better.
Not only does the steam open up the pores, but the natural ingredients from the tea gets inside of those pores to pull out all the dirt, sweat, and makeup.
Why Should You Use Facial Steam Tea?
One of the most exciting aspects of using a facial steam tea is that you can get the results of a nourishing facial or a day at the spa at your own home for a fraction of the cost! Steaming is the best way to open up pores and expose the makeup, dirt, and sebum that hides there and causes problems.
Steaming with a facial tea steam can help reduce dry scaly patches, excessive oil production, acne, and blackheads without adding chemicals or harmful ingredients to your skin. When the pores are open, it’s important to utilize that time to pull out the dirt and grime, which is where the detoxing benefits of tea come in!
Our facial steam tea is made from eucalyptus, lemon balm, white sage, and passion flower.
The Star Ingredients
Eucalyptus is not only a powerful natural decongestant, it is anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial. This means that it works to reduce redness as well as keeps away the bacteria that cause breakouts. Because eucalyptus is such a multi-purpose ingredient, this steam can be used as a natural decongestant for a cold on top of being a great facial steam!
Lemon balm is not related to the citrus, but is actually a part of the mint family. Lemon balm is a powerful ingredient that is full of free-radical fighting antioxidants to keep your skin feeling young. Its antioxidant and antibacterial properties help fight off acne and eczema, while its antiviral properties help resolve topical herpes!
White sage is a lovely leaf that also has powerful antimicrobial properties to keep nasty bacteria away from your skin. It’s also well known for its cleansing and toning power, fighting signs of aging and moisturizing all at the same time. So say goodbye to acne and hello to smoother, softer, more glowing skin.
Finally, passion flower is full of beneficial vitamins and nutrients for your skin, and is well known for its calming properties. This will keep your skin happy and balanced after kicking out all of the dirt, grime, and bacteria.
It’s a steam treatment and a tea facial all in one and all for just a few dollars per treatment!
So How Do You Use a Facial Steam Tea?
Well, it’s super simple!
1. Make sure your makeup is removed and that your skin is cleansed. Any remaining dirt and makeup can get pulled into your pores as they open.
2. Grab a tablespoon or two of your facial steam tea and toss it in a bowl.
3. Bring 3-4 cups of water up to a boil.
4. Add the water to the tea in the bowl and cover the bowl with a towel to let it steep for five minutes. Keeping it covered to steep is a super important step to keep all the steam and nutrients trapped in the bowl!
5. Remove the towel and drape it over the back of your head, then place your face 8 inches away from the bowl, using the towel to keep the steam from escaping.
6. Steam your face for 10-15 minutes to receive the full benefits of your at-home steam facial!
This 10 minute addition to your skin care routine can help you get the absolute most out of your skin care products. As a plus, you can pour the leftover facial tea into your bath to spread the detoxing tea love to your whole body!
